Beatification of John Paul II in Australia |
| Celebrations in the Infant Jesus Convent (North Beach WA) | |
The Community in North Beach, Perth, officially started celebrations of the Beatification of Pope John Paul II with the Vigil Prayers broadcasted by the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) till the late hours of the night.
Sister Irene Kubacki and Sister Joseph Mazur joined in the Rosary Prayer recited in different parts of the world. For Sister Joseph there was a moment of unbelievable surprise to recognise former Archbishop of Baghdad Most Rev Paul Dahdah, praying Rosary with the assembly of the faithful present at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lebanon in Harissa.
The next day, 1st May 2011, Sister Irene Kubacki and Sister Joseph Mazur attended the Mass of Thanksgiving for Blessed JPII at the Queen of Poland Church in Maylands. The Mass celebrated by the Archbishop of Perth, Most Rev Barry J Hickey and the Polish Priests, was moving and beautiful.
The Polish Community from the Queen of Poland Church put on a superb “cuppa” and “Polish doughnuts” at the Parish Hall and the majority of the church Assembly including both of the Holy Family of Nazareth Sisters enjoyed the food and the time of sharing some memoirs about the Supreme Pontiff JPII whom they had the privilege to meet in their lives.
Mr Anthony Barich, the journalist working for the Catholic paper, The Record, tried to catch the best shots of these memorable moments spent with the Queen of Poland Community and the guests. Mr Barich asked the Sisters a few questions about the Pope JPII and about Poland, the country where JPII was born and brought up.

Sunday 8 May, 2011. Yesterday was a double celebration at the Our Lady of Czestochowa Chapel. The Feast of Our Lady Queen of Poland and Constitution Day which is annually held on 3 May was moved to this Sunday. Last Sunday (1 May) Pope John Paul II was beatified in Rome and Sydney and people were encouraged to attend those events. Today’s Mass was the local thanksgiving and celebration. After the Thanksgiving Mass the congregation processed around the grounds with the Blessed Sacrament and the decorated icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa. Sister Grazyna Roclawska and several Sisters from Our Lady Queen of Poland Convent participated in this happy event.
