Celebrate with Joy!  The Golden Jubilee of Religious Life of

Sister Michele Collins of the Triune Love of God

On January 11, 2009, Sister Michele Collins celebrated her Golden Jubilee of religious life.  The celebration took place in the Generalate in RomeItaly, where Sister is currently serving on the Congregation's General Administration.

She is the daughter of Michael and Edna Collins, and one of three children.  Having spent her childhood in Michigan, it was from here that, at the age of seventeen, she responded to God's call to come and follow Him.  She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth in BellevuePA.

Over this half century, Sister Michele has worn many hats.  Following a few years in the field of teaching, she left education and went into the healthcare field.  She pursued studies as a nurse, working in Mercy Hospital in Altoona, PA, then as a nurse anesthetist, graduating from Mt. Mercy College, South Dakota.  Working as Director of the School of Anesthesia in Mercy Hospital, Altoona, Sister Michele spent nine years in this position.  For a short time, she served as administrator of St. Leonard's Home in Hollidaysburg, PA. Following this, she began ministry within the province as provincial treasurer, a position she held for twelve years.  She was elected as Provincial Superior in 1998, and carried out this ministry of service in St. Joseph Province, Pittsburgh, PA, until she was elected to the General Administration in Rome, in 2001, where she now serves as General Treasurer.

Sister Michele is blessed to still have her parents.  This year, Michael and Edna are celebrating their 70th anniversary of married life, as their daughter, Michele, celebrates her 50th year of religious life.

On this day of jubilee, we lift our voices in praise and thanksgiving for the gift of Sister Michele's life as a Sister of the Holy Family of Nazareth.

Many more happy years in Nazareth!
