The Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth have been engaged in healthcare since 1894, when, in Chicago, they began Holy Family Hospital, later renamed St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital, at another location, to care for the needs of immigrant people. As the Congregation in America expanded to other States, the Sisters pursued healthcare education and took on more hospital facilities to provide compassionate and caring service for anyone in need.
Through the years, Sisters continued to be engaged in various areas of healthcare and presently minister as chaplains in hospitals, doctors, nurses, lab technicians, all attending to the sick, the elderly and the infirm.
In the United States, together with the Sisters of the Resurrection, we co-sponsor Resurrection Healthcare, comprised of eight hospitals, four retirement communities, and ten nursing and rehab centers in Chicago and surroundings suburbs. In Tyler, Texas, the Congregation sponsors Trinity Mother Frances Health System. Sisters of the Holy Family can be found working in healthcare institutions not only in the US, but also in Italy, Poland, and the Ukraine.
Across oceans, whether in the United States, the Ukraine, or Poland, Nazareth Sisters offer compassionate care and assistance.
