Joy in the Philippines |
“My Beloved to me and I to Him.” These words on their rings symbolized the life -long commitment made on June 12, 2010 in Mary of Nazareth Province, Philippines by Sisters Mary Therese Lasco, Mary Jeremiah Mendoza, Linda Maria Balazo, and Ann Marie Gadayan. Their perpetual profession at Sanctuario de San Jose in Greenhills, Manila was solemnized by Archbishop Socrates Villegas, Archbishop of Lingayen, Dagupan. These four Sisters raised the number of Filipino perpetually professed CSFN Sisters to 25. Two will continue to serve the Church in Nazareth in campus ministry; one as a high school teacher and one as a student.
For their perpetual profession each of these Sisters had chosen a “mystery” of faith or Jesus’ life which had touched her spirituality and would help her live out her commitment. Sister Mary Therese is of “Jesus, Priest and Eucharist” because she was so inspired how her parish priest helped to reconcile her family. Therefore, she “wanted to help the priests in their mission to the people.” She also felt called to be “Eucharist to others. . . . God is inviting me to offer myself to be blessed, broken and shared to the people whom I love, and those who are not so easy to love.”
Sister Mary Jeremiah chose “the crucified love of the Incarnate Word” because she “experiences His merciful and faithful love” in her own life. Sister Linda Maria is of “Jesus on the cross.” She states that she “knew and learned more about him on the cross. . . . What are my sufferings when compared to those of Jesus?” Sister Ann Marie of “Jesus, the Lamb of God” felt that “God embraced my whole being including my weaknesses.” She is reminded of this each day at liturgy when she hears, “this is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Happy are those who are called to his supper.”
Sister Janice Fulmer, our superior general, and her council: Sisters Bozena, Virginette and Michele welcomed our four new perpetually professed into the congregation assuring them of our love and support. May these dear Sisters always be rooted in Jesus and bear much fruit for the Kingdom.
