Sister Christine’s Graduation |
by Sister Christine Ramada (Sydney NSW)
On the 5th of April I received my diploma for a postgraduate course in psychology that I completed at the Australian Catholic University. The graduation ceremony which was held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre was attended by graduates from various disciplines together with their families and friends. Sister Grażyna Rocławska, my Provincial Superior, Sister Rosanne Maree Sinclair, my Formation Director and Sister Anita Litwin, my local Superior represented the province at my happy event. It was a day of celebration, gratitude and a new beginning for most of us. It was a celebration because for many graduates it marked the end of countless sleepless nights. But most of all it was a day of thanksgiving, as we remember the special people who supported us along the way. It also marked a new beginning as we take on new roles and responsibilities in various areas of our profession. As newly graduates we are challenged not only to use the knowledge that we acquired from our studies but also to be instruments of Christ’s love. Reverend Professor James Haire, recipient of an honorary doctorate award, gave us a concrete example in his address of a person who may not have been gifted with knowledge but had a heart of gold. His words challenged me to be true to who I am and to challenge myself to live a life worthy of my chosen vocation using my knowledge to be of service to others.
