GOLD MEDAL FOR SISTERS IN LORETO

In Loreto, the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth were awarded with the Reipublicae Memoriae Meritum Gold Medal for their efforts in promoting the history of the soldiers of the Polish 2nd Corps, as well as for preserving Polish national traditions and patriotic values.

– The Reipublicae Memoriae Meritum medal awarded today is a token of gratitude to Sister Krzysztofora and her successors – all the Sisters from the Loreto convent who to this day offer spiritual care over the graves of our heroes. This is a special year for the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, as it marks the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Congregation, as well as the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Warsaw Province of the Congregation – an occasion the Institute of National Remembrance had the honor to commemorate by funding a monument on the grounds of the convent in Warsaw – said Adam Siwek, Director of the Office for Commemorating the Struggle and Martyrdom at the IPN, during the ceremony, expressing his gratitude to all those who care for Polish graves in Italy.

In Loreto, Italy, the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth run a convent and serve at the Santa Casa (Holy House) Sanctuary. They provide spiritual support to pilgrims arriving from around the world, organize retreats, prayers, adorations, and pastoral ministry for vocations and families. Their spiritual life is rooted in the contemplation of the lives of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

Loreto is one of the most important Marian pilgrimage sites – according to tradition, it houses the home of the Virgin Mary, transported from Nazareth. The Sisters of Nazareth, whose charism is to live the spirituality of the Holy Family, feel a special connection to this place and its message.
