IN LOVING SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE

Ministry

Nazareth must be like a sentry – observing where is a need, and proceeding there with help.

Mary of Jesus the Good Shepherd

Through the power of God’s grace, we give our lives in loving service to the people of God through a rich diversity of ministries. Like Jesus, we are sent forth in the spirit to nurture the longing for God hidden in the heart of every person.

Our mission calls us to dedicate ourselves to the moral and religious renewal of family life, wherever we serve. Acknowledging that holy, healthy families are central to the transformation of the world, we commit ourselves and our resources to enhancing the quality of family life. Our service points to the reality that God is present in the most simple and ordinary experiences of human life. We trust that God uses us as instruments by which the Gospel of love and peace is proclaimed, even to the point of sacrificing our own lives for the sake of our neighbor, as did our eleven martyred Sisters of Nowogrodek. As members of the one Body of Christ, we accept as our own the joys and hopes, the sorrows and fears of the People of God.

Early in the foundation of our Congregation, in response to requests from the Church for Sisters to minister to the people, Mother Mary of Jesus the Good Shepherd opened a wide door and guided her Sisters as they undertook their ministries to educate, to care for the sick and homeless and orphans, to meet the needs of the impoverished, the elderly, the physically and mentally challenged…in a word, to reach out to all members of the family of God. “We recognize our responsibility to develop a global perspective that responds to the needs of our multicultural Church.”
