SYNODAL MEETING OF SISTERS IN BELARUS

An online meeting was held on January 29 and 31, 2021, which was attended by most of the Sisters of the Province. Sr. Alina Furczyk, Assistant General, also participated in the meeting where she shared with the Sisters on the theme of synodality as a way of life. Recalling the homily of the Holy Father Francis at the opening of the synod, using the example of Jesus’ encounter with the rich young man, Sister explained the idea of synodality, focusing on three key words: ENCOUNTER, LISTEN, DISCERN.

The Sisters then shared how they understand synodality in relation to consecrated life and in the situation of the local church. The conversation focused on listening to each other, listening together and discerning the way the Holy Spirit leads, being open to otherness and accepting each other in our wounds and weaknesses. The Sisters also presented how they are involved in the synodal meetings in parishes. The meeting was an opportunity to get to know each other better and to share our experiences. It showed how much we need each other to walk together in faith, fulfilling our vocation.
