Symbolism:

“You will be my witnesses”

The most convincing witness is

Service

which has its source in the love of the

Holy Spirit

in order to be a gift for others.

 It is the most credible, eloquently-speaking ‘voice’;

and the Cross –

 the most obvious testimony of God’s love.

Jesus said: I am among you as one who serves (Luke 22:27); the washing of feet is the icon of his identity, it is the true face of God and the true face of man. Jesus laid down his life for us. So being His witnesses means the same for us: to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.
