XXIV GENERAL CHAPTER

Chapter 2015, July 24-25th

Closing the XXIV General Chapter

After much time, prayer and self-involvement, we are closing the XXIV General Chapter.  We are different now.  We have listened, opened ourselves to the Holy Spirit, dialogued with our Sisters from all over the world.  In reality, language and cultural barriers have not stopped our unity of charism and mission.  This could be felt especially during the closing ritual as we signed the documents and then shared the sign of peace.

The Eucharist began at 11:30 am with the hymn, “Wake the World with Dawning Joy,” a hymn that was composed by Steven Warner for the Year of Consecrated Life using Pope Francis’ words.  In his homily Cardinal George Pell stressed the importance of our mission to the family, which is very much endangered today.  The Prayer of the Faithful resounded in 10 languages.  How diverse Nazareth is!

The XXIV General Chapter has passed into history.  However… “The mission continues…  We are the mission of Jesus. Take courage!” (Mother Jana)

Listen to the Prayers of the Faithful from the Mass at the close of the General Chapter prayed by Sisters in English, Tagalog, Italian, Polish, Belarusian, French, Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic and Twi (Ghana).

.Hymn “Wake the World with Dawning Joy,” music: Steven Warner and words: Pope Francis.
